Journaling Lent: Day 3, Repentance - Turning From Sin

by Nic

"Turn to me with all your heart."

I find myself only "needing" to repent when I commit great sins...Do I need to repent from the fib I told my wife or when I passed along the other side of the road when someone needed my help?

Do I seek forgiveness on a normal basis? Do I search myself to see if I need to seek forgiveness from others? (or forgive others for that matter)

Do I show remorse and have true repentance?

God cannot fix someone who hasn't been broken. "The sacrifice pleasing to God is a broken spirit."

That verse in Psalms reminds me so much of Jesus' sermon on the mount. "Blessed are the poor in Spirit for theirs is the kingdom of Heaven."

Poor, broken, humbled - this is God's economy. He longs for all to be made whole.
