Journaling Lent: Day 14, The Practice of Prayer

Pray in secret. Pray sincerely. God knows your heart and even that which you are going to pray before you speak it.

Once Jesus was ministering to a crowd and some of the people began to bring their children to Him. Jesus wanted and invited the children. There are non too young or old to come to Christ. All are welcome in God's kingdom. Have faith like a child.

Do you ever think that what you are thinking about the most is what's closest to your heart? Do you pray about what is closest to your heart? Jesus said, "Where your treasure is, there your heart is also?" I often thought of money when hearing this verse before, but can't other things be our treasure as well? Like time, people, popularity, self interest, etc...

In 1 Thessalonians 5.16-18 Believers are instructed to: Rejoice always, pray constantly, and give thanks in everything.

Rejoice Always: This is a state of mind. Knowing that there is always something to rejoice about, if nothing else Salvation.

Pray Constantly: I refuse to ever believe that this means to be murmuring prayers to yourself all day. I think it means to be in constant communication with God. Acknowledge the good and the bad in your life. Receive what he's saying to you when you have nothing to pray or ask for.

Give thanks in everything. All circumstances. Good, bad. neutral. He deserves our thanks.

This is God's will. Pray in this manner.
