Most of Jesus' ministry and message was contrary to what the Jewish people were accustomed to. Jesus was often offensive.
-Love your enemy not just your neighbor
-If someone slaps you, turn the other cheek
-Before Abraham was, "I AM"
Wrapping our heads around how small our planet is compared to the whole galaxy is one thing, but trying to comprehend the infiniteness of God is another thing completely.
As a kid I used to sit and try to think to myself how God began. I would think as hard as I could, "How did God start?" "When did He begin?" "How is this possible?"
Whether the earth is 6,000 years old or 4.5 billion years old - He was there before it began.
He is all knowing and and omnipresent - again I can somewhat understand that, but the fact that He never began and will never end hurts my head.
Do I have to understand?
"Great is our Lord, abundant in power. His understanding is beyond measure." Ps. 147:5
"My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts." Isaiah 55.8-9
He was. He is. He is to come.
God is all knowing and all loving. He is all-understanding not all-understood...and that's okay for me and my small brain.
