Who is Jesus?
CS Lewis wrote, "Jesus is either a liar, a lunatic, or the Lord. He either intentionally made claims about Himself He knew were false, He was delusional, or He really was the Christ."
Out of Christ's 8 "I AM" references in the Gospel of John, the one that resonates with me the most is, "I AM the Way, the Truth, and the Life. No one comes to the Father but by Me" (John 14.8).
The Way: Like I journaled yesterday, Salvation is a choice I make everyday. There's a path that I choose to follow Him. No matter where I stray on my journey or how weak I get - I can look up and see that He is the Way.
The Truth: Perhaps I will write on this more in depth one day, but I'll keep this basic since this is more of a journaling of my thoughts. The word truth is completely arbitrary in today's society. Anywhere from politicians, celebrities, athletes, to modern History - the word truth is often very questionable in these instances. There are levels of truth and honestly I suppose certainly levels of lying (see Marriage), but Christ's claim isn't the same claim to truth that we make. He says, "I am the Truth." There is no other Truth and no other way of Salvation. Things will come and go but one thing remains constant: He is Truth.
The Life: I cannot live without Christ. What I mean by that is not the romantic gesture of, "Baby, I can't live without you." I mean there is no Life without Him. Read books, watch TV, make money, go on trips, buy stuff, etc...those things do not sustain. He is Life.
"I am the Way,
Follow Me and take My hand.
And I am the Truth, embrace Me and you'll understand.
And I am the Life, and through Me you'll live again.
For I am Love."
